A Woman Who Built a Homeland from Hope and Made Her Words a Lasting Message
From Baghdad to the UAE... A Story Written by a Pen That Never Believed in Limits
Born in Baghdad, the cradle of civilization, Kareema Kadhim Al-Saady grew up in an environment filled with love, knowledge, and an enduring passion for culture and learning. From an early age, books became her closest companions, and words became her gateway to a world beyond borders.
She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Arabic Language and Literature from the University of Baghdad, where she was inspired by distinguished scholars and developed a lifelong commitment to knowledge, perseverance, and excellence.
Her professional journey began in education before moving to the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and Information, where she immersed herself in journalism, poetry, public relations, administration, research, translation, and cultural activities. This experience brought her into close contact with leading poets, writers, and intellectuals, shaping her literary and cultural vision.
Driven by her passion for the arts, she studied Arabic calligraphy under renowned masters, including the distinguished scholar Dr. Fadhil Al-Samarrai and the internationally celebrated calligrapher Abbas Al-Baghdadi. She later expanded her artistic pursuits into ceramics and visual arts, participating in numerous exhibitions and cultural events across the Arab world and beyond.
Determined to broaden her academic horizons, she pursued a second bachelor's degree in German Language, enabling her to translate many of her literary and artistic works into German and English, thereby extending her cultural reach internationally.
Following the difficult circumstances that affected Iraq, she relocated to Syria, where she continued her work in education, journalism, and cultural activities. Later, she moved to the United Arab Emirates, a country she proudly considers her second home.
In the UAE, she completed her Master's Degree in Digital Media and Public Relations from the University of Minnesota, USA, and later received an Honorary Doctorate in recognition of her cultural, educational, and media contributions.
Throughout her career, Kareema Al-Saady has established herself as a respected figure in literary, cultural, and media circles. Her achievements span education, journalism, public relations, training, research, arts, curriculum development, and digital media.
She has been honored with numerous awards and recognitions, including the UAE Golden Visa under the category of Creatives and Cultural Professionals, a Gold Medal, and Certificates of Appreciation for her outstanding humanitarian, volunteer, and community-service contributions.
Her accomplishments include awards in poetry, Arabic calligraphy, theatre, directing, scriptwriting, acting, visual arts, and cultural initiatives. She has participated in international festivals and exhibitions in Iraq, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and Tunisia.
Kareema is a member of numerous professional and cultural organizations, including the Arab Journalists Union, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, the Iraqi Writers and Authors Union, the Emirates Writers Union, translators’ associations, calligraphy societies, and various scientific and cultural committees.
She has authored numerous books and studies in media, environment, economics, human development, women’s empowerment, youth development, and children's education. Her literary contributions include several poetry collections in classical, free-verse, and modern styles, many of which have been translated into English and German.
She has also written more than 200 educational and cultural children's stories, many of which have been translated into multiple languages. Additionally, she has participated in international conferences on artificial intelligence and digital media and has published extensively in local, Arab, and international newspapers and magazines.
Iraq remains the source of her inspiration—a land that gifted humanity writing, law, and civilization. Its heritage continues to resonate throughout her poetry and literary works.
The United Arab Emirates, meanwhile, provided the environment in which her ambitions flourished, offering a model of cultural support, innovation, and opportunity.
As she writes in one of her poems:
"Let my soul travel wherever it wishes,
For the path of my spirit knows no impossibility."
And about Baghdad:
"From where did you come into my heart and soul,
While tears overflow and burn within my eyes?"
Even in exile, her longing remains:
"O my mother's bread, O echo of her prayers,
O melody of the call to prayer within my ears..."
